International Herald Tribune Saturday 4th February, 2012
To the Editor:
Re "Do Drones Undermine Democracy?," by Peter W. Singer (Sunday Review, Jan. 22):
We must put an end to the ability of any president to instigate any act of war unilaterally. Though drones do not put any of our service people in jeopardy, they ultimately put us all in jeopardy, provoking long-term consequences of resentment and retaliation.
It is too easy for Americans to approve of devastating other countries with the knowledge that those people cannot strike back.
