Memphis assistant coach Mike Miller announced on social media Wednesday that he will step aside from his duties in order to put a greater focus on his family.
Miller, 40, who has two boys in high school who play basketball, was on the staff of head coach Penny Hardaway for the past two seasons.
"As much as I've loved this job and had a blast being part of the special program Coach is building, the past few months have made me realize that it's time for me to spend more time focused on family and wherever the journey will take me next," Miller wrote on Twitter.
Memphis went 22-14 in the 2018-19 season and finished 21-10 this past season while being ranked as high as No. 9 in the Associated Press poll.
Miller did not say what he plans to do next but did add he "will find a way to stay in basketball and continue to make an impact on this city that I love so much!"
Miller, a South Dakota native and University of Florida product, played 17 seasons in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies, Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards and Cleveland Cavaliers. He averaged 10.6 points and 4.2 rebounds over 1,032 games, including a career-best 18.5 points in the 2006-07 season with the Grizzlies.
