Brock McGinn scored and added an assist and Tristan Jarry made 36 saves on Wednesday as the Pittsburgh Penguins rode a three-goal second period to their fourth straight win, 4-1 over the visiting Vancouver Canucks.
Bryan Rust, Evan Rodrigues and Zach Aston-Reese also scored for the Penguins, who were coming off a 3-0-0 road trip. Teddy Blueger notched two assists.
Jarry has allowed two goals over his past four games, logging two shutouts, and has stopped of 116 of 118 shots in those contests.
Bo Horvat scored for the Canucks, who have lost six of seven and have scored just 14 goals in their past eight games.
Vancouver goaltender Thatcher Demko made 33 saves.
Demko's 16 saves in the first period were the main reason the game was 0-0 going into the second, but the Penguins were persistent, and it paid off.
On a power play that carried over from the late seconds of the first, Rust gave Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead 49 seconds into the second. From the left circle, his one-timer off a pass from Kris Letang beat Demko past his blocker.
It was Rust's first goal in 11 games.
Rodrigues picked up his 100th career point when he boosted the Penguins' lead to 2-0 at 7:29 of the second. He picked off a Canucks clearing attempt around the end boards, stepped into the left circle, and using Vancouver defenseman Tyler Myers as a screen and executing a head fake, sent a shot from the dot far side.
At 15:20 of the second, Aston-Reese notched his first goal of the season to make it 3-0. Off a three-on-one, he converted a pass from McGinn and snapped the puck past Demko's blocker.
Horvat spoiled Jarry's shutout bid at 14:52 of the third. He moved in from the lower part of the left circle and roofed a backhander to make it 3-1.
McGinn added an empty-netter with one minute left.
