Logan Thompson made 37 saves to lead the Vegas Golden Knights to a 4-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night in Las Vegas.
It was the 11th victory of the season for Thompson, second in the NHL only to the 13 of the Boston Bruins' Linus Ullmark.
Jack Eichel contributed a goal and an assist and Mark Stone, William Carrier and William Karlsson also scored for Vegas, which won its eighth consecutive game against the Senators. Alex Pietrangelo, playing in his 900th NHL game, added an assist.
Jake Sanderson scored his first NHL goal for Ottawa, which took its third straight loss and fell for the 11th in the past 13 games (2-10-1). Cam Talbot stopped 32 of 35 shots while falling to 1-5-0 this season.
Vegas took a 1-0 lead at the 17:02 mark of the first period on a power play.
Stone snapped a wrist shot from the slot off the stick of Senators forward Parker Kelly and inside the left post for his ninth goal of the season. The goal was the fifth in four games for Stone, who has also scored in four consecutive games.
Ottawa tied it with 18 seconds left in the opening period on a power-play goal by Sanderson.
The 20-year-old defenseman, the No. 5 overall pick of the 2020 NHL Draft and the son of former NHL forward Geoff Sanderson, ripped a shot from the right point that changed direction off the stick of Vegas defenseman Alec Martinez and went past Thompson's blocker side.
The Golden Knights took a 2-1 lead at 16:23 of the second period when Carrier split a pair of defenseman during a one-on-three break. While falling to the ice, he fired a wrist shot past Talbot's blocker side for his seventh goal of the season.
Karlsson extended the Vegas lead to 3-1 at 2:39 of the third period with a spinning backhand shot from the left faceoff dot that sailed over Talbot's glove and into the top right corner of the net for his fifth goal of the season. The tally ended a 11-game goalless drought for Karlsson.
Eichel sealed the win with an empty-net goal with 1:41 remaining, his 11th goal of the season.
