Defenseman Josh Mahura scored at 3:06 of overtime Saturday night and the visiting Seattle Kraken defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3.
Mahura scored on an 11-foot wrist shot in the Kraken's fourth straight overtime game (one went to a shootout). They have won three of five to open the season and have a point in every game.
It was the second consecutive overtime game for the Maple Leafs, who had won two games in a row.
Shane Wright had a goal and an assist for the Kraken. Jani Nyman and Vince Dunn scored a goal apiece and Mason Marchment and Chandler Stephenson each added two assists in the win. Joey Daccord stopped 26 shots.
John Tavares scored two goals and Morgan Rielly tallied once for the Maple Leafs. William Nylander contributed two assists and Anthony Stolarz made 24 saves.
Seattle scored on the power play at 7:29 of the first period. Wright buried a 20-foot wrister from the left circle on a long rebound from Marchment's shot. Nicolas Roy was serving a tripping penalty.
Rielly tied the game with a shot from the left circle to the short side at 14:56 of the first after taking a feed from Auston Matthews after Matthew Knies won the puck in the neutral zone.
Seattle regained the lead at 14:19 of the second period when Nyman converted Marchment's deft pass with a wrist shot.
Tavares tied the game at 16:01 of the second on a shot over Daccord's shoulder.
Seattle soon took the lead again at 17:44 on Dunn's blast from the top of the right circle through traffic that clipped a defender on the way. Toronto defenseman Brandon Carlo pushed Jaden Schwartz into Stolarz on the play.
Tavares tied the game with a 16-foot backhand at 1:21 of the third period on a power play. Ryan Lindgren was off for cross-checking. The goal marked Tavares' 500th point as a Maple Leaf.
Daccord made a nice poke check on Steven Lorentz who drove to the net with about three minutes left in the third.
Daccord made a big pad save as the third period ended to force overtime.
