Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will undergo an MRI exam on Monday after leaving in the third quarter of Sunday's 44-22 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas, with a hamstring injury.
On first-and-10 at the Dallas 39, Daniels dropped back and was sacked by Shemar James, fumbling the ball while being pulled down with Dallas recovering. Daniels was slow to get up and limping as he left the field and went to the medical tent with 11:47 remaining in the third quarter.
Daniels then went back into the locker room for further evaluation. He missed two games this season after sustaining a knee sprain during the Commanders' Week 2 loss at Green Bay.
The Commanders were trailing 27-15 when Daniels left the game. Dallas scored after recovering his fumble and then returned a Marcus Mariota interception for a touchdown to run away with the game after Daniels went down.
Commanders coach Dan Quinn said that Daniels wanted to go back into the game, but the staff elected to hold him back given the multiple-score deficit Washington was facing by the time he could have potentially returned. Washington has an extra recovery day before its next game at Kansas City on Monday, Oct. 27.
Daniels completed 12 of 22 passes for 156 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown pass to Zach Ertz. Daniels also rushed eight times for 34 yards, including a 1-yard TD.
