The NFL is investigating the day-after change to Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson's practice participation status.
The Ravens could be disciplined after originally announcing Jackson was a full participant in Friday's practice before changing that Saturday to indicate he was limited.
'The league will look into this,' NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said Saturday. 'The league reviews any matter involving a change to a player's status.'
Baltimore also announced Saturday that Jackson (hamstring) will miss his third straight game Sunday versus the visiting Chicago Bears. Tyler Huntley will make the start after signing to the 53-man roster on Friday, coach John Harbaugh announced.
When announcing Jackson's practice status change, the Ravens wrote: 'Lamar Jackson was present for and participated fully in our entire Friday practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears. Upon further evaluation today and after conferring with the league office, because Lamar didn't take any starter reps in practice, we updated our report to reflect his practice participation.'
ESPN reported that Jackson ran the scout team during Friday's practice. Rostered players who practice with the scout team are supposed to be labeled as limited even if they were full participants, according to the league injury report policy.
Per NBC Sports, the league could dole out a number of different punishments, including a fine, suspension of involved individuals or loss of draft picks.
